The Castle Of The Mind
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 06-19-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

In the haven of certainty the souls tumble
Fools with the drenched souls force bauble

In the corner dark sits a crying damsel
Tears she sheds for she was left at the chapel

Her lover he ran into the arms of a vixen
He has abandoned his first love left her barren

In the womb of prophesy the jewels lurk
Silent in the shadows their emotions do irk

In the chalice of desertion the handmaids hunker
Shallow in the treaded waters they set their anchor

In the crevice of hunger the mimes float
Master of the house wears a tear in his tailcoat

In the kitchen of refusal the flags sew
Candles light shadow atop of the table all aglow

In the tundra of prophesy the women blather
Handmaidens delirious in confinement words to gather

In the cauldron of intention the spirits strive
Thoughts of this day await for a new day to arrive

Nice using of couplets. Tells a tale, sad, but easy to read. Will the new day ever arrive?
