No chaotic barrier in the vistas
could disrupt the beauty of my view.
As to the north I felt the winds hands
play with my face in a tantrum of touch.
Dragging myself further towards the edge,
gigantic shapeless blocks of black granite
intermingled with the dirt beneath my feet.
No traces of desolation were within my sight
As a sigh of relief seemed to escape my trembling lips
and immediate object touched the toe of my boot.
Resolved that I would not tumble to the waiting gorge below. Glancing down into the tundra I had found my footing
Finally I had reached my destination accompanied by my soul. I looked across the ledge where we stood and at the slope. We had cut steps in the tundra with our gracious feet. To stand upon this mountain and capture the moment.
Falcons in flight dance heavenward in a awesome beat
Just to hold this moment in my mind makes life seem graceful. I hold the camera close to my face and hear it click. Disturbing the forest sounds we begin our descent home.
