Only Five Will I Survive?
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 06-22-2002

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Mommy I'm only five
Will I surely survive?

I'm only five I've been raped
My innocence has been
scraped

He was fifteen and older
He was a lot more bolder

I was just so meek
And I was way to weak

Pain shot deep inside of me
My little thoughts dumped
into some dirty alley

Mommy I'm only five
Will I surely survive?

My Mom she looked at
me with disgust
My emotions now
ran the deepest

She blamed it on me
a child of five
He was mental not
all alive

Red crimson pain
stained my life
Emotions ran deep
and scared like a knife

Mommy I'm only five
Surely I will survive?

Life has come full
force about
I'm finally healing my
life gives a shout

Emotions ran deep
into my scars
I will keep them
safe in my memoirs

Mom I survived!
I made it past five.

Thank you for sharing this most painful reminder of a subject we too often neglect. I could feel a lot of memories in this verse. I hope some healing came along the way.
