Upon the day
gazing at the utterance of God’s breath
on the sunrise,
I sit
and shiver
at the dismay
where freedom
no longer
is a choice
of tastes.
One destitute offering
bleeding the spine
with mortality’s residue
leaves me knowing
I am redeemed
not by ignoring tombs,
but
in the praise
for what lies
beyond.

"Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose" Janice Joplin I could write a book on this one... would love to... but I'd be hung-drawn-and-quartered by those who seek to safeguard and further our "freedoms".
Seriously though, Individual Freedom, the basis of America, has been totally murdered in favor of "Group Freedom". Individuals are sacrificed on the alter of what is "best for all".
Sadly, America is basically dead, beyond any reviving.
