Phoenix Flight
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 06-25-2002

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Flight of the Phoenix
Flew close to Arabic
river Styx

In the desert death and gloom
Where the wild desert rose
does bloom

Mythical phoenix first was born
In a rose bush all forlorn

Phoenix blessed the desert
night with song
His melody was beautiful
and strong

He bathed in a cool
spring well
Arabs still share
his myth and tale

Of a beautiful bird
of Phoenix
Colors of burnt orange
and red epic

Of expanding graceful wings
How he was beautiful with
markings

Flight like flashing light
Descends from up high
out of sight

Songs so ravishing
So soothing and charming

Phoenix of immortality
and resurrection
Of life and death
Captures my awe
of breath

Soar high phoenix myth
Higher with angles
and with heavens lockmith

High into the heavens
Where resurrection's
cry harkens

You weave such a mystical image with this poem and end it so spiritually. A great read.
