Freedom Warrior
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 06-28-2002

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Great Warrior of the land
Skin is beautiful glows like sand

Feathers shroud his head of fame
Roaming many lands from where he came

Thriving and striving to make his way
Unto Spirit God he gives his thanks this day

Beads of color he wears upon his chest
Wears upon his back a leather vest

Tanned from skin of buffalo
Warrior still hunts for food
with a bow and arrow

White man called them
the Red man
Red man called them
the White man

We all live in this land
Here we stand hand in hand

Our flag waves with many colors
Red man's color of red
White man's color of white
Every man's color blue

Where still waves the
red, white, and blue
For all men of peace

This is a early Fourth Of July Poem;

As you pointed out, Peggy, I think now, especially, most Americans are red, white and blue. All the other colors pale by comparison.

As everyone knows that knows the colors of the flag she is blue , red, white, I din't neglect any race or creed... On Authors Den You can see this poem posted with a flage red, white,
and blue. With a Indian In front of it... it has honour awards at three other sites.. The rest of the people of race fall under blue for all men of peace.. I truly didn't mean to leave any one out of the celebration or reconginition... Just kinda hard to write it when you only have three colors.... Peggy

Woven beautifully...the true spirit we should all have...a wonderful 4th of July poem! :)

Interesting weaving of colors and differences between people together. Nice use of rhyme too. Thanks for the theme of uniting and symbolic intentions.
