Floating Dreams

Once there was
a beautiful lady
This enchanting lady
was one of beauty

Beauty that none
had enquired upon
Her skin the color
and softness of fawn

She glistened like
the morning dawn
Her tresses of hair
like soft chiffon

Lips so luscious and deep
shades of ruby
Her gowns were woven
of elegant chamois

Laden with colors of bright silk
Complexion that of creamy milk

My lady she would float each day
In a boat across the lake she lay

Where she would sleep
and dream
Floating along midstream

Glittering fantasies
laced her dreams
Knights and maidens
and love were the themes

She longed for a Knight
in shining armor
One that would
love her in honor

Brave and dark, tall
and handsome
He would love her
and lay in her bosom

Gallant and daring
and mighty a knight
Come sweet knight
floating in my
dreams tonight

Ah, the perennial hero coming flawless, virtuous ready to make a maiden his queen. Such a romantic theme. But alas, these days, they carry pagers and cell phones and send emails promising to do lunch while sneaking off to some cyberspace den of inquity. Good poem in any case.
