Orioka was the hometown of my best-friend Nioka Orami, and myself, Aki Natoru. Nioka was always a cheerful kid. That is before her mother died. Her father was never the same either. He used to tell her about how bad poachers were, but after his wife, Arida, died he became a poacher. Nobody knew that he was a poacher except me and Nioka.
One day I decided to eves-drop on one of his conversations in the pub. "Nioka is a kind-hearted and caring kid I'll admit that much. The only person who knows why she hates me is her friend, Aki, and he's sworn to secrecy." remarked Namar Orami. "I don't understand why she hates you so much. You are her father after all. You said a year after your wife died you switched jobs. It's possible that she doesn't like your job. She is 13 and she wants to express her opinions openly." the traveler said.
"Oshien do you think you could talk to her?" asked Namar. "Sorry, but I can't. I'm leaving first thing in the morning, and I still have a lot of stuff I need to take care of. She's lucky though. She actually has a father. Mine was killed when my village was attaked."
When I went back to Nioka's house to tell her what I'd heard, she nearly exploded with anger. She went into her room pulled out her bag and packed it nearly full with clothes and food. She put her bag by the door along with a spear she'd payed the blacksmith to make. When her father got back, he'd barely gotten through the door when Nioka started off at him.
"Some father you are. What's wrong with you. Your not the father I knew before!" She yelled. "What do you mean?" He asked. "What happened to 'Poachers are the worst things in the world.' I love you Daddy, but I hate your guts."
She picked up her things and bolted out the door knocking her father over in the process. There was a long silence. I was hiding in the back the whole time this was going on. I was the only one who saw Nioka after that, but I can't say where.
