X-Lover

  X-Lover

There's just one x that marks the spot..that ever beckoning lover,
his name stands silent sentinal, can't escape my trembling lips
His decadent home lies in my inner core, land of nitty-gritty
he's the blacknight jesting joker and the puffed-up king of hearts
His stacked perversions deadly sweet, shuffled in life's deck of cards
Darkly whimsical magic, unearthly encored skills

Awfully hard to keep a pretense going, with his mix of impish signals
chemical cocktail rituals, dark-eyed pheromones
what's your killing poison, what's your healing choice
a variety of formulated variables won't be leaving any clues
no set math equation tells when love is fast approaching,
but you sure as hell know when it leaves

Wow, this is fascinating, Nancy...I read it yesterday, and I keep going through it, enjoying the rhythm and the word-play and all the nuances that keep popping up...
Plus, your deft manipulation of the English language sure raises the bar!

Isn't it a shame that we keep so much locked just under the surface, choosing, rather, to adhere to societal expectations of conduct? The lustful, naughty, totally awesome freedom-seeking missile pointed directly at everyone who refuses to understand... I admire your ability to address this one, Nancy, I can't tell you the number of times I've tried to write something like this, always unsuccessfully.
