On an unending quest
Burning with the intensity
Of elusive fulfillment.
Hot blood and unshed tears
Taste of salty brine.
Craving the solid
Mineral substance.
Crawl through tunnels
Of emotion
Climb peaks of glory.
Sustaining desire
Beneath the skin
A frantic clawing creature,
Bowing to insatiable needs.
Greedily hoarding each bit.
Human passion nourishing
Primordial longings.
Sprinkled on ravenous tongue.
Savoring life
On the palette of necessity.
The elusive stuff of existence
Preserving humanity-
Mining salt.
