Hi Moonatics,
I usually go to a friends house to watch Sailor Moon. She has been on until now at 3:30 p.m. every afternoon on "The Cartoon Network." They have apparently cancelled our hero. I wrote an email to their complaint department. If you all complain there, it is possible they will bring back our friend. We can hope, even though many grown-ups are more interested in making lots of money than in providing something which represents truth and wholesomeness.
This is what I wrote them:
Apparently a show such as “Sailor Moon” that subtly teaches children morality is just not worth air-time these days. Nor is one which features artwork far above the commonplace.
I don't own a Television and for good reason. Most of the programming is total trash. I was going to buy a Television however so I could see "Sailor Moon" on 'The Cartoon Network.' I learned today that this has been replaced.
I watched the replacement, a piece of trash, featuring unbelievably poorly drawn characters smashing each other's heads into the ground. That's just one fine example of the moral lessons being taught by the replacement.
I fully expect I'll see a "We appreciate your comments" email and the same garbage will continue to be foisted on our children. After all, who cares about moral responsibility anyways, ratings are far more important.
So quite obviously this email is a total waste of both our time. I suppose I actually should thank you for saving me the bother and expense of buying a television.
I do host a site, http://Prose-n-Poetry.com which features "Sailor Moon" I will post a copy of this email there so the 'Moonatics' can see I made an effort and I expect they'll also discover that no one really cares.
I'll also post your complaint addy so they can make their feelings (for what that's worth) known.
Sincerely,
Robert Betts

Here is where you can complain:
Click here to Complain Note also that they do not set a space for your email addy. They will not be able to respond to you unless you put that in your complaint somewhere. Even then, that is no guarantee that they will respond. Should you do that? I would have to advise that you only include an email addy if you have effective means to block unwanted email.

This column is old news I see, but I came late to this fandom. I didn't watch Sailor Moon on TV (I don't have a TV). I watched it after downloading the fansubs. I saw one dubbed ep. I think, and thought it was the silliest thing I ever saw. Then an acquaintance whose taste in literature is impeccable told me to get it in the original language and watch just the first season, because there were some things of merit in it. I did so and found he was right.
Part of the "problem" with Sailor Moon is that its girls actually act like girls, or rather like they used to act 30 or so years ago. Despite their powers and heroics, they don't exactly meet the standards for current day (Gender) Feminist icons. The heroine must constantly be saved by a masked protector; despite the nudity and sexually tinged humor in the original (which really is a mere cultural difference, in this case) it's really quite moral, and so forth. Another problem is that it's, frankly, weird. Japanese weird, and nobody can out-weird the Japanese.
(I personally like these things about it, or at least they are not 'dealbreakers' for me.)
But more than that, it is the product of a unique 'relatively intact' culture that is really quite at odds with American culture. I have not seen the "R" dub, but what did they call Crystal Tokyo in it? Did they call it Crystal Tokyo? That's just part of the strangeness of it. It think a dub of Sailor Moon is pointless because an "American Sailor Moon" that keeps all the cultural elements intact is impossible. Without those cultural elements it's not Sailor Moon. As we can judge by the way it has fans in many corners of the world, this series has a uniqueness about it, and that uniqueness inheres in where it came from.
It can no longer be seen on TV, but really it's best seen in the original language with subtitles anyway. Get the fansubs, and enjoy. Learn to pick out the fine nuances in the superb voices they picked for each of the main characters. Enjoy it for what it is.

I am probably one of the bigger of the millions of Sailor Moon fans out there. When they cancelled Sailor Moon on cartoon network, some times ago, I got so very angry. I, for one, do not have cable or dish, so I think they should play Sailor Moon on FOX or something, weekdays after school, and weekend mornings. It would be a wonderfull thing, but it just made me so angry when they cancelled the series on Cartoon Network. Though, did't we all get angry then?

I went on a Sailor Moon site and It Show on Sailor Moon Universe It said,Sailor Moon S To Debut On Cartoon Network
Starting June 13th, The Cartoon Network will begin airing Sailor Moon S and Super S at 4:00 EST and Pacific Times. Originally they were gonna release it earlier but due to the fact that dubbing took longer, it had been pushed to the 13th.
Thats What it Said.

I love Sailor Moon!!!!!! It's been cancelled 5 times now!!!!! It's recently only been replaced by DBZ and Hamtaro. To believe that I actually liked Hamtaro until I found out that Sailor Moon was a pawn in their game to get high ratings. The only thing I am pleased to announce is that Sailor Moon got the highest ratings for an "old" show EVER in the history of Cartoon Network. I lament to announce that I actually like some of the other anime. Though putting power puff girls on and calling it anime is a COMPLETE disgrace.(I actually saw ppg cards being sold at an anime store! I inquired but none had been but HAH!!) I will never ever purposely watch DB, DBZ or DBG unless I lose my mind though G Gundam is rather good. Cartoon Network is pretty stupid because it always kicks off the anime like Tenchi in Tokyo. They just had to kick it off when it only had two episodes left didn't it. I would block cartoon network from my tv if they didn't show sm movies every once in a while plus there are a couple of shows that I like. All with decint morals. I can't take it!!!!!!!!! AH!!!!!!!!!!!! Humph! Thank you for veiwing my comments. Please ponder them no matter what you personally think of the situation.

Nicki is my origanal nickname but I'm just a tad too much of a moonie to not make it Nickimoon.
