A silence strikes earth,
when day turns to night.
Where a shadow isn’t quite.
a fleeting love affair,
To be reborn.
The subdued light,
giving to the rampant night.
The day’s warmth,
smothered by the nights chill.
The eerie light of the moon,
gives homage to the dark.
The silence.
And the world rests,
and waits anew.
A baby’s cry is silenced,
in the mid of the night.
A woman’s heart is broken,
at the wake of a new dawn.
She was met with an empty stare,
a small body,
tinged with blue.
Entering into the unknown,
the world becomes amiss,
reality a realm of confusion,
disbelief and blame.
No pain, no feeling,
just that empty void,
a roller coaster ride,
down the abyss.
Friendly words of compassion,
all misunderstood.
Somewhere from within,
a strength builds.
Stronger she'll be,
but she'll always remember.
The cot,
the wrinkled sheets,
a dented pillow,
the smell of bum cream and talc,
the soft toys strewn about her cot,
the melodic mobile, stands silent.
Her clothes neatly folded,
never to be worn.
Her softest of soft brushes,
clings to a few remaining strands of hair.
she can still hear her hungry cry,
her cheeky giggle.
She can feel her soft breath brush her cheek,
oh she can’t get rid that baby smell,
how it makes her eyes burn,
and her heart aches.
After today she’ll be stronger.
