Only Sleeping
by Lyle Berry (Age: 61)
copyright 07-17-2002

Age Rating: 13 to 127

I’m good at giving
She’s good at taking
But this life ain’t living
And I’m tired of faking

I ain’t no angel
But I’ve been faithful
Now I’m a stranger
And she’s unbelievable

I’m only sleeping
She’s out there playing
Bitterness steeping
Hear what they’re saying:

He’s only sleeping
While she’s out here flying
No promises keeping
If he knew he’d be crying
But weeping won’t change what she does
When he’s only sleeping

I’ve loved her forever
But I’m far away
I can’t bring her pleasure
If I’m not there to stay-ay

She has other needs now
Her friends and her whiskey
I’ve lost her love somehow
I doubt that she’ll miss me

While I’m only sleeping
And she’s out there playing
I’m weary of weeping
Hear what I’m saying:

I’m only sleeping
While you’re out there flying
No promises keeping
I know - I’m done trying
No tears will erase what you’ve done
While I’m only sleeping

I’m only sleeping
So stay out there flying
Too late now for weeping
Small matter I’m dying
And tears won’t erase what you’ve done
Pretend I’m only sleeping

Wow, that's really sad.
Lost love always sucks the big one.
I hope your much better.
Keep up the good work.
