Goddess Perfume
by Maralee Gerke
copyright 07-20-2002

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Mint, thyme, and lavender
Suffuse the air
With goddess perfume.
Spicy, wild, and redolent,
These native aromas are
Conduits to primeval roots.
Legacy of mother earth
Infused with dark mystery
Of forgotten feminine rites.
Diana, Ceres, Aurora,
Awakening female souls
On the altar of womanhood,
Around tribal fires.
Herbs used to heal, purge, and cleanse,
The mystical secrets of Venus.
Passion, steeped and
Poured into handmade adobe bowls.
Sipped, gulped, and savored
On Amazon tongues.
Lifting the heavy veil
Of female history
Revealing a realization
Of deepening consciousness.
Threading a sinuous way
From breath to breath
Inhaling life force
A piquant whiff of eternity
Tracing the garden path of the goddess.
