Once In A Life
By Richard Maxfield
6-21-2002
Once in a life time
To be so graced by God
Endowed and touched
By everlasting love
A blind love
That sees no wrong
Nor judges actions
But gently guides
A shining light
To illuminate our path
Shoulder on which to lean
An ear to hear
These are but a few
Of the qualities
Of a person placed in our life
By no mere chance
Predestined by God
To endure the pain
Give birth
Bring forth life
This person
Is far more than a person
This is the thread of life
From which we were weaved
Mother, my dear Mother
My weak attempts
To describe the indescribable
To paint with words fall ever so short
You have been taken from me
But for a while
Know my love
Transcends
