Battle's of the Heart
by Herb Burd
copyright 08-07-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

The wind tears at my soul.
The open road sometimes
is the only way to go.
And the worlds conscience you know
will never lay to rest.
What is left behind
just becomes second best.
Winner's and loser's are the same.
In a world of nothin' but smoke and flame.
When it comes to when the tears
stop to start.
Then you will know that your in for
a battle of the heart.

When you know that your love
is in someone else's arm's.
There's no gun or anything else
that can do you anymore harm.
Closed door's and closed mind's.
I pray to the spirit's to unleash mine.
And the wind tears at my soul.
The open road sometimes is the only way to go.
When it comes to when the tears stop to start.
Then you will know that your in for
a battle of the heart.
I stand on top of this mountain
trying to see as far as I can.
Waiting for love to come and take me by the hand.
Maybe one day this world will no longer
be just another foreign land.

Good writing! "...I stand on top of this mountain..." What a wonderful portrayal. Conflict and sweet surrender!

Your poem really does carve its own emotions into the reader's heart. The world being a foreign land, so true, so sad, but true.
