Why You?
by Jennifer Campbell-Kletzli (Age: 20)
copyright 08-08-2002

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Before you read this poem, I want you to know that it was written for some 15 year old girls that died in a car crash in my town on August 6th 2002. This poem was written to pay tribute to them. I am also putting this poem on poetry.com. Here it is:

Why You?

Why did you have to go so soon?
I know I've talked to you once in a blue moon.
And I know I didn't know you all well.
But I did know that you all were swell.

So young to go on an innocent day.
Why did you all have to go away?
I know you didn't deserve to die.
And yet, you still went on your own. Why?

Why you? Was it something you all did?
Why you? Each of you was only a kid!
Why you? You all were always nice to me.
Why you? You were all as cheerful as can be.

I know that in school, we had never really talked.
Every time we saw each other we just walked.
But still, you were all very nice.
Why couldn't, for once, God think twice?

Hi, Jennifer,

This was really sad. I'm glad you shared it.
I'm new here. Thank you,

This brought back memories of when I was in high school. A group of students, walking home from a school play, were run down and killed by a drunk driver.
We may never know why these things happen, but I know that God has His reasons.

that was wonderful, with a great message too, that was a great tribute to them.

I was reading with the tears in my eyes. I always think “Why you?” when I read or hear about the death of any child… There is no an answer… only a deep sorrow. - Ira.

I live in Vegas. We've had about five kids die in seperate car accidents in the 2002 school year alone. It's frightening, and depressing, and I know what it's like to sit there, staring at the TV with tears in your eyes as you realize that the latest person who died was someone you used to hang out with every once in a while. Great job, very sad and meaningful.

Forever,
Debra

That poem was beautiful, but I did see a few typo's. But other than that, that poem almost made me cry.
