Chablis and Candlelight
by Patricia Boudreau (Age: 57)
copyright 08-14-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

Lit a candle
tonight,
One I bought
just today.
No special reason
so I
thought.

It glowed oh so
softly,
sweet scent filling
the air.
Mesmerized,
I was
caught.

Thoughts filled
my head,
dancing winsomely,
wondering where
you were.
Sighs fell
soft.

Wishes don't
always come true.
A little wine is
good...
thoughtful, slow sips
Chablis...
how it catches
the light,
like a prism.

Soft flickers,
the touch of a lovers
sweet lips.
How silent
the moments
that pass
while alone,
watching
the flame
eclipse...

Sound like the person good have used some extra wine at then when trying to savor it all alone. Very effective.

I really enjoyed your poem. It was as if you had a paintbrush in my very mind, shading my own memories from your experience. And economy. Good economy.
