A Secretary's Lament
by Cristina Lipp
copyright 08-16-2002

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Within the confines
of this room
My workload multiples.
The new day brings
A million things.
And time --
Oh! How it flies.

The copier's "on the blink" again;
The telephone just died.
The meeting notes
Were late today.
The Board convened last night.

The computer leases half my desk
Which, increasingly, gets smaller.
The sink has sprung
A leaky mess.
The A/C drones much louder.

It's five o'clock
And wouldn't you know
The xerox man is here
The telephone decides to ring
As the plumber sheds his gear.

And if this day
should end, dear Lord
I know most certainly
Two days like this
I can't afford,
I'd lose my sanity!

LOL...very good...this just flowed right along...and I could feel your frustration mounting!

Great write. A tale I'm sure that too many secretaries would agree with.
