Part of this reminds me of my mother, the other of my ex. I hope you guys like it! The verses of what part it's dedicated too is mixed, so I'm just posting it. ^_^ Oh, and it's a song, just so you know.
You put your hair down in the rain
Say it keeps the water from leaking into your brain
You tilt your head up to the sun
Say you'll be darker when you're done
You put your hair up in the rain
Say its the only way to keep you sane
You lift your face into the sun
Say you will be mine when you are done
But I don't want to wait for you
I bet you got tired of waiting for me too
You took so long you took your time
Just to make up your sweet mind.
Why can't you see all I want
Is just to be let be
So you can take so long
You can take your time
The choice isn't yours, now it's mine
I put my hair down in the rain
Let the water leak into my brain
I lift my wings up to the sun
I finally fly when they are done
I leave my soul out in the storm
To cleanse myself of your arms
I let it dry out in the sun
I will be free of you when I am done
But I don't want to wait for you
I bet you got tired of waiting for me too
I just want to be let be
Taste the air that I can finally breathe
And lift my face into the sun
Spread my wings when I am done
Leak my soul into the rain
To feel it over and cleanse the the pain
Then find my place where I am free
Where I can finally be let be

Debra, you go, girl. Great poem. I like very much how you've liberated yourself from control by taking some of his behavior and making it your own, but to your own ends. It's very powerful, the way you let your hair down in the rain and lift your wings to the sun, in echo of the things he's done.
Also, the making the decision yours. Pwerful, empowering. Great work.
