Black Birds

  Black Birds

Dull dreary black birds gather in the winterset landscape of my mind,
hang upside down like dangling deadened leaves, claws on bare branches
Their strange peculiar eyes keep watch, over-glazed with venomous poison

Feeling my abstract impressions, hair-pin experiences, and unexplored beliefs
perceiving my reactions, behaviors, thoughts, and reasonings
My kick-ass mind retrogrades, reverts to complexed inferiority
As I search for undisputed sanity, tangled in a bedlam studded maze

I'm conveyed to hidden recesses, divergent tangents double-dare and challange
Courage, boldness, never intersecting, never touching
As insensible music abberations strike unfamiliar chords

Closet skeletons shadow box, spar with hovering mossy spectres
Suspended ghostwaltz melodies float across the rotten floor
A living breathing presence, nightmarish scenario
Rising, moving upwards in a veil of swirling ashy mist
From the saturated sucking ground

I must evade this kind of brain-washed capture and my creative juices flow
Determined to be firm in purpose, my heart and soul survive
In rekindled candle burnings, ignite poetic ember's glow

So fantastic you found your way through the maze of reflections to once again spark in verse. As usual your poem roars with eloquence and vivid thought portraits.

Cristina,
Here in south Georgia, we have problems with blackbirds..there's little you can do that will scare them away and they always come back to roost, just when you think they've left for good. This is my picture of depression and the only way I can overcome it is to write..but it can be seen as writer's block as well.

gosh, this just leaves me speechless....I love your way with words, and so powerful in their expression and imagery!

My mind feel sometimes like that when I'm trying to find a purpose or reason to write. I like the imagery painted, especially in the 4th verse. Is it writer's block you're trying to convey here - like in the last verse? Very good writing.
