A Child With A Dream
by Audrey Sullivan (Age: 43)
copyright 08-30-2002

Age Rating: 13 to 127

The child is out there all alone,
He has no home to call his own.
He's on the street with nothing to eat;
He wonders around looking on the ground;
He finds a half eaten sandwhich.
The first meal of the day,
Now he will look for a place to stay.
He crawls under a car,
Not far from a bar.
When he awakens the next day,
He slides out from under the car.
Walks over to the bar,
Looking for breakfeast.
A fight breaks out in the parking lot,
A man pulls out a gun;
The other man runs.
The boy was caught in the cross fire,
He was shot in the heart.
The people run out of the bar,
To see what the noise was.
A Boy lies dead,and there was nothing said,
But oh just another kid,
Little did they know
he had a dream,
It was one day to help other children
With no home, have one of there very own.

I like the rhythm of the piece... it has almost a 'rap' effect.
