Storm Horizon
by Herb Burd
copyright 06-27-2001

Age Rating: 18 to 127

You question me like I'm the enemy.
Yet you know that I'm one of the earth.
My mother, it seems that you
really don't understand.
Dirt is dirt, you call it just ground.
Who is lost, who is found?
There is a storm on the horizon.
Here comes, storm horizon.

The sacred lake awaits us all.
Only if you have the wisdom to see.
Does your blood burn, or is it cold?
Are you a coward or are you bold?
Do you think stories like this are just
stories to be told?
There is a storm on the horizon.
Here comes storm horizon.

There is something here if you care.
Open your eyes if you dare.
There is a devil in me.
There is a devil in you.
But there is a higher place if you care.
There is a storm on the horizon.
Here comes storm horizon.

A higher place,
no need to be phony.
Just be yourself, just be yourself.
There's a higher place.
Why not meet it face to face?
Whose the fool, could it be me, yes?
Whose the fool, could it be you?
Who will find that higher place?
I hope that you do.
Because there is a storm on the horizon.
There is a storm on the horizon.
Here comes, storm horizon.
Storm horizon.

Herb: I love the rhythm and flow of this poem, as well as the wording. I think you might wish to change the "whose" to "who's" if it is meant as a contraction of "who is." "Whose" indicates the possessive case of "who" - such as "The minister, whose faith is strong."
