Screaming (Abuse)
by Debra Rose (Age: 21)
copyright 09-09-2002

Age Rating: 16 to 127

Bound hands and tear stained cheeks
She's screaming on the bed again
But there doesn't seem to be a soul
Who hears her sobbing pleas.

She tells him to stop the pain
But his hand sears across her wet cheek
Tearing her open and beating her body
Till his sadistic craving is filled.

Then she's left to untie herself
And ordered to go clean up
She wipes up the blood and covers the bruises
Before heading down to the laundromat.

They pretend they don't know
Pretend they don't see the bruises
Or the wierd way she walks.
"She must have done something to deserve it."

So instead of interfering they watch
She comes in each week,
Arms broken and neck in a brace
Leg snapped and wrists bruised

Each week she gets smaller and smaller
The once strong spirit turning meek with fear
Till her skin is transparent
And the bruises are like black marker on snow.

But one week she didn't come
And the cops and heirse were at her home
Lifting her bloody body onto a gurney,
But the cops pretend it's just a suicide.

She's screaming on the bed again,
But she must have done something to deserve it.

No one deserves to be treated with this kind of disrespect. The one being abused should have tried harder to get help! I saw this first hand growing up, took many years until I told him no more! This is a sad feeling as a child! Good write! Anthony

That's powerful stuff. It's important to indict the silent witnesses of this kind of abuse. If we don't help our neighbors, then who will?
