No Tomorrow
by Kay Lee Kelly
copyright 06-04-2002

Age Rating: 1 to 127

Stay in the past forget the new day
Grey stones keeper of those who go
Stiller town, for all those who know
Do not weep for those who go.

I will not regret the changing
From one world, to the new.
Waiting has become a game .
One day to next, all the same.
Requiem for those who remain
Will they listen, sing the refrain?

Is there a calm for those who weep?
As I softly and sweetly sleep.
My aching heart free from toil,
Gently embraced by the soil,
As I slumber in a dreamless bed,
Who shall speak of life I’ve led?

The fleeing clouds clutter my pewter sky
The ancient chant says ~ a good day to die.

Do I leave a trace behind?
If someone looks, what they find?
Please, no one disturb my safe repose
Toss on my grave one red rose.

There is no despair.

You've done so well in writing about a subject most of us try to avoid thinking about.

Indeed, death has lost its sting. Elegant and sophisticated... I loved "the fleeing clouds clutter my pewter sky".

So good to see you Kay Lee. This poem is sad. My sister in law just died and I hope she had the same feelings about this as you have. Sharron

Hi Kay lee,
sassi from ts here. Its nice to see your work up here. I have to agree with Dallas on the poem, its very sad yet has a very calming, peaceful tone. The red rose being tossed on the grave is my favourite line - love the image.
