Hotel of Heartbreak
by Jeniffer Brand (Age: 38)
copyright 09-14-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

This is how it happened one day to the next.
I got the short stick, I think I've been hexed!

"Your future is promising, your future is waiting".
That's what they're saying, that's what they're stating.

"You love your job", they say they know.
But it's only an act, it's only a show.

Find a job, another career, they know I can.
They say I'm smart, they know I am.

So I've been knocked down and I try to get up.
Starting over like a baby, a kitten, a pup!

I live alone, support myself, I try to make ends meet.
Now what do I do, where do I go, what do I eat?

Depressed and scared I sit and cry.
I hear a voice..."Get up and JUST TRY"!!

Your're right there's more out there!
I just have to find it somewhere!

I'm stuck in rut, but I can be free!
I can get out, I can be happy!

"You can have your old job back" he said to me.
You're smart, creative, a good employee.

My friends, my family, I can see them now!
As they smile, cheer and take a bow!

I was down in the dumps and in a rut.
But I got right back up and I kicked some butt!

The old hotel is not doing so well.
They have no one to market, no one to sell.

Don't gather your eggs all in one take.
For one of these days, they WILL all break.

(For everyone who has been laid off since 9/11! Things will get better, have gotten better, and business goes on) (For those of you who have laid people off........you've jumped the gun).

God Bless!

I hate to think that we raised all that money for people that were in the buildings and some are crying that they didn't get enough. While the businesses that lost out because of the loss of work were forced to lay off workers and all those people got zilch! We live in a world that gives praise in the wrong places. This is a good poem. I hope things are much better! Thanks, Anthony
