Artistic Motherlode

  Artistic Motherlode

I've gone back to work, just a part-time job at the local arts and crafts store
A jill-of-all-trades is my employee's learning phase
But I'm out of my element, a fish out of water
At the mere mention of raffia, matte varnish, or glaze

Please ask about crayons, soap making and beads
or where the restroom might be
I've had some experience with paint-by-number, plastic canvas and stickers
decoupage, rubber stamping, and embroidery

I've been steadily working for the last five days
Muscles aching, body's tired, constant hobby overload
The cash register scans a million-and-one combinations
Creative craftings, mind-boggling and numerous, I've hit the artistic motherlode

Hiya Dixie, This is my life right now..I'm working part-time at Michael's Arts and Crafts Store where there's a lot of physical labor involved, but my body's finally adjusted and doesn't ache anymore. The poem came to mind because I don't really know too much about arts and crafts, but am learning bits and pieces on a daily basis.

A poem full of the kinds of experience so many of us can appreciate. You describe to vividly. Sounds like hitting the artistic motherlode is a mixed blessing. Thank you for bringing us with you.

If this is about your life are you having 2nd thoughts about going back to work? If you haven't got arthritis the pain will go away. But if it's not about your life very good writing. Who inspired you on this one? Right to the point. DIXIE LEE
