A child sits upon his Mother's lap, her arms around him tight. Wards off his daily pain and fear so he can sleep at night.
Vague memories of long ago, so dim, not so clear. A smell, a sound, a fleeting voice that whispers in my ear.
I need you here to guide me now, please tell me what to do. I long to take the path of light that leads me there to you.
But even though I miss you so, even till this day. My heart tells me what my head cannot, you are not so far away.
But if heaven will just but allow it, wrap me in your glowing light. Ward off my daily pain and fear so I can sleep tonight.

chris..this touched my heart. a couple years ago my mom passed away..and i dont know if this was about that but hey, poetry is all about interpretation. "I need you here to guide me now, please tell me what to do" as i grow older i realize that i really need a guide and someone to talk to about life's little pleasures and life's little traps and all that. i feel like i've strayed from the group and everyone else has a sheperd to walk them home on th edark path but i am scrambling for someone..something and ohh shoot thats enough i like your poem . the end.
I must say, I do not love sentimental poems about a mother. But your one is so deep and so true.!.. This poem is Love Shine. Poet Chris has won my heart. - Irina.
