Lost in her love
by Victoria Claxton (Age: 27)
copyright 10-03-2002

Age Rating: 1 to 127

There were nights when I would lay alone in bed
holding her close though still inside me
Talking to God, asking Him for all the special qualities I wanted my child to possess
The magnificence of the glory bestowed within me was so overwhelming
I could do nothing but smile ...:)
at the thought of seeing my child one day

Her love astounds me.... to be honest gets me breathless when I think of it
She's all my prayers answered and to a great extent so much more
From the first moment I held her
In my arms
I formulated the conclusion that I'd never seen such beauty before .... God's finest blessing...to me

Time flies and the years they do go
She's growing so quickly, everything is 'no, mama, no'
Running and climbing almost everywhere
And when she can't reach she goes pulling her little yellow chair

'Jordan', that's her name, 'give mama a big kiss'
She'd pucker up her lips and run into my arms...
'muah'
She'd then retreat to doing what she was doing before,
most likely trying to let the puppy in by attempting to open the front door....short stuff :)

I look around me now
I look at my life so differently
Everything I do is for her
No more just for me
But in working, school, extra little jobs to tie up loose ends
When I walk through the door at the end of the day, it's all worth it...
when she jumps up from watching Pooh Bear and runs in my arms with a big smile on her face and say,
'mama, guess what?'
'what'
'I missed you so much all day,'
'really'
'really, mama, and that's all I have to say'

Television....

And what can I do but hold her close
and tell her that I love her the most....
She'd retreat once again to the living room couch
Be singing and dancing with Bear in the Big Blue House
I'd stand there a while and look at her and all that she means to me
And remember her saying, 'big girl, big girl' when I called her my baby
And smile....

Kids.....

This is one of the most adorable poems I've ever read. The pure joy of a mother. I love children too. They're the only ones who don't get tired of talking back and forth for hours. Babies are a God-sent gift! So pure, so innocent, so trusting. It makes me wonder of how beautiful life really is.

Your poem is mesmorizing! It's great how you describe the much-loved antics of your little girl. Once again, beautiful write!
