On Writing Poetry

I love to rhyme
In doubletime
Or in iambic tet;
Amazing feats
Of changing beats
Are even better yet!

I like to rhyme my poetry
In rhyme schemes of AB AB
But AA BB suits me too,
It's even easier to do!

I guess I am not a poette
I must be a doggerelette;
But if you think my thought don't flow,
My feelings on this you should know

Non-verse is worse.

I have read a few free verse poems that were wonderful, so I know it is possible to write them and to do it well. Most that I read though I must say, so what! They have a hard time with relevancy for me. Unless something exactly has happened to me I can't get it! I like this poem! Anthony

There was a young woman named Bunny
Whose poems all turned out quite funny
But we love her for trying
And there's no denying
Her jokes can make life quite sunny!
Thanks Buns. Love Betty (big but not so big, sis)

Some of us are way too poetically/rhyming challenged, and thus must revert to free verse. I must say though this was witty. There was a young girl from Regina Who wrote poetry all the time-a She rhymed and she rhymed, time after time, And her poetry is just a fine-a. (Limericks may not be my forte either). This was a good poem, Betty, love, little sis.

Blessed by the ability to use humour to knock free verse! Well done.
Susan
