Stained Glass Window
by Barry Clopton Lanier (Age: 53)
copyright 03-29-2003

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Life a retrospective reflection,
Like a beautiful, turn of the century stained glass window.
In due course, portions stained and ugly;
Lacking meaning and purpose.

But just as the glass, life comes alive with radiance and beauty.
As but one event transpires; A light shines thru and suddenly and spiritually.
A myriad of stained portions unite in magnificent beauty.

A portrait to behold.
Such it is with the stained glass window;
And so it is with ones life.
If we allow the light to shine thru us.

Redemption is evident,
As so it is with our life;
And so it is;
With the stained glass window.

This poem came to me upon riding back from Florida, after visiting a friend of mine, who had actually flown in a master glassworker to install and prepare an old, stained 18th century glass in his home....I could understand why one would exert so much energy, cost, and sheer pain to preserve...just an old, dirty,
stained window,,,,,but now I know.
