The Pit
by Cristina Lipp
copyright 10-07-2002

Age Rating: 16 to 127

Climbing these walls of human desire.
Conquered the pain
While going through the fire.
Smells ripe with passion
Reeks of despair.
Open this coffin
And spill out my fears.

Sinking in valleys so low and mired.
Spirit so cold,
Empty and tired.
Bathing my wounds
With the filth of my tears;
Festered and putrid,
Unheeded for years.

Drinking the poison I've nurtured within.
Singing a death march,
Dancing with sin.
Foul reaching pleasures
Pull open the lid
Return in full measures
I decend to the PIT!
İCristina Lipp

Sinking into the pit, I love it. The poem I love the pit I am usually in. Thanks, Anthony

Superbly dark. I loved this one. But then, I am in the PITs (or is that the sh*ts???) most of the time....Lol!

There is power here.

The pit, so true of life, so reflective of too many journeys. Captures so perfectly the essence of times when gray is a mood clouding our mind.
