The Chains of Affection

  The Chains of Affection

"Please. Please?" I cry
in a desperate, frantic need to ask why
ever helplessly watching as you give yourself to another eye
that it nearly stops my heart with a death knell sigh.

How often I have lamented our first and fateful encounter
when you captured me with your too, too sweet alluring power
enticing me to consume your naked essence in stolen parts of an hour
until my innocence, soul and wealth turned sour.

After working your seductive spell upon my wretched life
your frivolous rejection intensely cut my insides like a surgeon’s knife
boiling my spirit with a poignant stew of constant strife.

It drained every ounce of my vigor and flame
knowing how you brought me only unbearable shame
after abandoning my decaying human shell turned destitute and cold
for the attention of those still able to surrender their meager bags of gold.

With my heart impaled with burning festoons of agony
I have a single prayer and urgent plea
to break the bewitching bonds you have on me
before being utterly possessed with cravings unspeakably obscene
oh most cruel and luscious jelly bean!

So very poetic. I love your writing. It is so full of imagery in a strong, yet fleeting essence. Can I ask about the last line, though...Oh most cruel and luscious jeIly bean!
