‘Twixt - ‘Tween
by Lyle Berry (Age: 61)
copyright 10-08-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

My soul moans
Torn ‘twixt Saul and Onan
‘Tween Pain and Pleasure
Do you hear me moaning?

My soul cries
Ripped ‘twixt God and Satan
‘Tween Prayer and Gold
Can you see me crying?

‘Twixt – ‘Tween
So obscene
Temptation whets the appetite
Sin addiction keeps it keen
‘Twixt – ‘Tween
Know what I mean?
Caught up in the quagmire
Ain’t a thing that gets me clean

My soul rages
Rent ‘twixt Love and Lust
‘Tween Good and Evil
Do you sense me raging?

My soul screams
Ravaged ‘twixt Heaven and Hell
‘Tween Her and Him
Can you feel me screaming?

‘Twixt – ‘Tween
So obscene
Temptation whets the appetite
Sin addiction keeps it keen
‘Twixt – ‘Tween
Know what I mean?
Caught up in the quagmire
Ain’t a thing that gets me clean

My soul whimpers
Wrenched ‘twixt Life and Death
‘Tween Yin and Yang
Can you taste me whimpering?

My soul burns
Wracked ‘twixt Hammer and Tong
‘Tween Fire and Coals
Can you smell me burning?

‘Twixt – ‘Tween
So obscene
Temptation whets the appetite
Sin addiction keeps it keen
‘Twixt – ‘Tween
Know what I mean?
Caught up in the quagmire
Ain’t a thing that gets me clean

Excellent, you have given turmoil a personality of its own

Great poem, Lyle. So touches at the struggle in us all, the torment of being that the reflective soul can't ignore.
