My Dear Friend...
by Christopher Doss (Age: 21)
copyright 10-08-2002

Age Rating: 7 to 127

Bidding farewell to this lonely room
that serves as both jail and friend
Committing every detail to memory
for I shall not return here again

In closing this chapter of my life
I leave behind a tortured soul
Feelings of failure, confusion, despair
Many things out of my control

Walking the path that is my future
seeking guidance, pausing to pray
Help me dodge the thorns and brambles
clogging the path, blocking my way

I crave a soft smile and gentle touch
Words to encourage and aid me through
When my life becomes overwhelming
I allow my thoughts to drift to you

Your words, Gail, appear before my eyes
Forever emblazoned upon my heart
Lifting my mind above the pain
Friendship strong, however far apart

Throughout the long days that lay ahead
to my promises I will hold true
An uncertain future I now face
with courage given me by you

Dedicated to a dear friend who helped me through a very hard time. I hope she reads it.
