Wind, lift my hollow bones.
Borne on the good Earth’s breath,
lofted by her thermals – let me soar.
Each breeze elevate my spirit,
and take me closer
to Heaven.
Over the brooding blue mountains
beyond the river
of the laughing green valleys
I'll fly dancing
to Mother Nature’s
silent sonatas.
Circling, banking,
diving, whirling
free beyond freedom - on I'll dance
- on I'll fly!
Elemental.
On the Earth, in the quiescent glade,
the rabbit frolics,
nibbling sweet grasses,
unsuspecting.
My searching eyes
lock with his
while my blood song
wails
in my heart.
Until the bow
and the
arrow
sing their tune -
a bitter duet,
in counterpoint
that
takes me
plummeting
towards
Destiny.
The warrior
will make a fine headdress
of my feathers,
a fetish
of my beak and claws,
and a shaman’s whistle
from my
hollow bones....
