November Rain
by David C.
copyright 10-15-2002

Age Rating: 1 to 127

Early November rain
sleets through the maple branches;
stripped to their essentials,
it had cut its loses.

Below, a forgotten Jack O' Lantern sits,
now has a haunted look
its flame extinguished
only congealed remains left
in the ruin.

It’s spirit gone
back to my lost childhood.

Great poem. You stirred such images and sensations and tied it in the end with a subtle, but terrific poetic line.

Another Great One.

Nice job, David! Lots of thought and feeling present here... One quick nit-- 'losses' needs two "s's"... heehee. No big deal, very easily fixed. I wish I could write this well when I was your age (or probably right now, for that matter). Thanks for sharing this with us.
