Freedom
by Emily Garwood (Age: 21)
copyright 10-18-2002

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Free choice,
Free speech,
Freedom to sit where we please,
equality is the freedom we want.

Black or white,
Does it really matter?
Freedom is for everyone,
Not just one colour.

Freedom in most countries,
Yet people starving,
Trapped in their own hunger,
Hope that they'll have the freedom,
To live a proper life,
Freedom is for everyone.

This is very good. Many countries are mad and jealous because we have so much freedom. Back in the day whites would treat others of color badly. I never really understood why. We are people. We are all the same except for our color. I think that some of the white people probably thought that the way they acted is the way Jesus would act. They must have thought that Jesus would do all those hurtful things. Whites thought that they were so inferior and they every one should be white, not black or any other race. I wonder that if God wanted us to be all white, why did he make other races and different skin colors?

Absolutely wonderful poem, Emy! And so true as well, and yet, in those countries where people are trapped in their hunger, many seem to be happier and freer than a lot of us are. The US has the highest suicide rate per 100,000 than any other country. Another useless fact I know. Learned it in sociology.
