No Words
by Lyle Berry (Age: 62)
copyright 10-25-2002

Age Rating: 13 to 127

There are no words that can convey
My love for you, no words can say
No pen or tongue, can shape or tell
This pain I know, this living Hell

There are no rhymes, there is no verse
That can express my love’s a curse
There are no songs; there is no tune
I might as well be on the Moon

There is no way that I can show
How great my need to make you to know
There is no prayer that I can pray
To bring me home from far away

There are no tears that I can cry
I’ve cried them all; the well is dry
I’m cold inside; don’t ask me why
I can’t go on – don’t want to try

This is no life; it’s living death
And when I rasp my final breath
I ache to curl against your heat
And one last time feel your heart beat

I like the visions
in your words
I like the rhymes
I've just now heard

I feel the pain
you've expressed so well
and love the story
your poem tells

Not because it's pretty
or because it made me smile
But because I understand and
felt it too all the while

Thanks for taking time

Hugs, Lyle... you know I love your work
I was reading the brief comments left here
and thought to myself that they just
aren't doing your poem justice...
So I hope you don't mind that I took some time
to express how much I loved this work of yours!

Warm Regards,

This poem has a good flow and reads well. I like poetry that has good rhythm, and yours certainly does.
