Lesson From A Candle
by Barry Clopton Lanier (Age: 53)
copyright 12-16-2002

Age Rating: 10 to 127

At times life's so simple
Blink, and we may miss the lessons
That are given just for free

Yet I think early this morning
I found just one
As I looked down
Toward my feet

Like last nights candle
I forgot, and left on the floor
It burned all throughout
The long endless night

Yet still it sits
Solemn and spent
In a large flat oval
What moments were its lifetime
It gave all, shining its brilliant light

Its brilliant glow
Never cast even one shadow
In a world filled with shades of gray.
As the evening storm passed
And cast a brilliant reaffirmation of hope
The candle sat lonely, never getting in the way.

Yet like the candle silent yet so beautiful,
The rainbow freely cast a beacon of hope.
For the meek and the willing,
Who choose not to abandon their boat.

So what is my candles little lesson
As I gaze toward the stars
In the heaven of night?

That I light another candle
to begin each glorious day
His will and not mine
Yet to shed out
Just a little more light.

I knew at the title of this poem I'd like it.
For it's the way that I write and am releved to
know such a kindered soul exsists. Remember to
always do your best, expecially when you think
you have. Give your all=:)
