The Chatup Blues
by Patrick Talty (Age: 84)
copyright 11-26-2002

Age Rating: 16 to 127

The scene is a Munich beer hall:
A Texan is downing a beer;
A fraulein whose garments bare all
Asks “Is okay if I sit here?”

The Texan looks her over:
She’s cute and sexy and tall,
With skin like the White Cliffs of Dover
And a face to excite and enthrall.

He plucks up the courage to chat her,
“Do you speak English, honey chile?”
She waits, considers the matter,
“A little”, she answers with guile.

“A little?” -his voice on the rise,
“How much?” -tone as thick as fog;
“Fifty dollars”, she straightway replies.
He hastily pays for his grog.

(c)2002 Patrick Talty

A Texan always makes for a better tale than someone from New York City(get a rope). Guess you can't tell I'm from Texas. We don't call it grog though, but I have heard them ask for mud in a glass before! I liked your tale! Anthony

I really enjoyed your work,,,keep it up...

This is different, but I like it. You did a wonderful job setting the scene here and the tale it tells is right out of the Wild West. Great job!
