I pine for pains never suffered
I mourn for kinsmen never lost
I take a head upon my shoulder
Empathetic to an unknown cost.
I weep for lack of better things
Still I have not had the worst
My clothes are covered in ashes
I am unburned, I am unhurt
My eyes are red with this agony
And agony bears a stranger’s face.
Instead of shouting in joy and bliss
Sorrows come to take their place.
