As we rode in the old truck, my dad looked over at me. Lilly and I had changed our clothes, after getting reemed at by my dad for how "slutty" they looked. He barely believed I was a virgin. NO ONE would believe it if Lilly tried telling them she was a virgin, but she was.

The old truck was white... Well, it USED to be white. At the time, it was a cream sort of color, close to white. There wasn't much about it that could help you tell it apart from other trucks, and my mother liked it that way. Somehow, she said, it made her feel prettier.

"How's your mother, Melody?"

"Fine."

"Your step-dad treating you well?"

"Yes."

"O.K..."

I never liked talking much to my dad. He never really understood me. I couldn't really expect him to. I didn't even understand myself.

There was this funny feeling in me I'd had since I was a little kid. Maybe 3, but you never remember stuff from that far back. It's when I realized I wasn't like other kids... I was different...

That's why I think Lilly and me are such good friends. Other than that our mom's are best friends, she gets the same feelings from time to time.

We caught every green light there, which was weird, because Toledo is a bigger city than the one I was born in, Abilene, Texas. And that city, that never even happened.

I kept staring at the lights, hopeing they would be green byt he time we got to them, and they kept, well... being green. When I stopped paying attention to the lights, we caught the first red light there was.

I frowned up at the lights and stared down at my faded blue jeans, picking at the fabric; a bad habit I get from my mom. That's another thing bad about me; I pick up bad habits easily.

When we got up to the Cafe, my dad just nodded at me as Lilly and I stepped out. That's how he tells me "Call me when you're ready to leave," and he drove off.

As soon as we walked in, I could sence Nicolle. She had, what some might call, a strong aura, and for anyone who could feel them, it was very recognizable. I sat down at her table as soon as I noticed her.

I'm not racest, but in a place like Door Street Cafe, Nicki isn't hard to point out. See, most of the people that go there now a days are white... or atleast pale, like me. Nicki is very dark tan skined with white platinum hair and big, sparkling brown eyes. Her hair tells how strong of a witch she is. Not many people have white birth hair... unless they are albino or something. She had dark skin because she was African-American, mostly. I always thought she was very pretty.

The one thing we all had in comon were our eyes. We all had brown eyes. I suppose, if you were to try to tell us apart by our eyes, your best bet would have been to say that untrusting eyes belonged to Nicki, friendly eyes were mine, and innocent eyes were Lil's.

She sighed and looked up at me when I sat down, Lil next to me.

"What was her name? Did you catch it?" She was sifting through her book of shadows, looking for something to help us to explain what happened, I guessed. "Umm... Claidi. She had red hair, like fire."

She looked through the book again, stopped, read alittle, sighed, and closed the book hard. "You're dealing with a very strng, very dangerous witch who only comes for young witches to lead them to be satanics."

My eyes widened and Lil rubbed her face. "So... we're witches?"

"You have to be. both of you, too. She wouldn't come out when she knew you were with her unless she wanted you both." Nicki put her head in her hands. O.K., ladies. Time for some training!"
