I have loved Superman since I was 8 years old - he fascinates me in a way little else can (for more info, read my Superman Fantasy). However, 3 years ago, I discovered someone who is at least as fascinating as Superman: Sailor Moon. Just recently, while talking to bob, I realized why I love these 2 superheroes so much. Sailor Moon and Superman actually have a lot in common.

First, they are both superheroes, committed to protecting Earth with their superhuman powers. In this, they both have others who fight alongside them, whether beside them or inspired by them. Superman inspired Supergirl, Superboy, and Steel (Team Superman) to fight crime as he does. Sailor Moon has a group of friends who fight beside her against evil: Sailors Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter and, of course, Tuxedo Mask. Later, she is joined by Sailors Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

Superman has awesome powers (near invincibility, amazing strength, etc) and, if he were so inclined, he could take over the world and destroy anyone who got in his way. However, he is pure and good and kind, and he always uses his powers to do good. Likewise, Sailor Moon has great power that she only uses to do good. She is also pure and innocent, and she loves everybody, even converting many of her enemies through her goodness.

Sailor Moon could be seen as a feminist story, since the hero is female. However, she is often in need of protection from Tuxedo Mask, who is male; and the other Scouts, who are female. When they face their most dangerous foes, Sailor Moon must defeat them because the others cannot - she is truly the most powerful. Interestingly, Superman can be seen as a patriarchal/chauvinistic story because the hero is male and he is continually saving the female character Lois Lane. However, Lois is not incapable of taking care of herself; in fact, she is very strong-willed and independent. Neither story is sexist against females or males; they are both balanced.

Sailor Moon and Superman. Two inspiring, larger-than-life characters. If they met, would they like each other? I believe they would.

Sailor moon really would be nice to Superman, because they are both really nice!!! Especially when Sailor Moon was kind enough to save the other sailors, even almost sacrificing her own life (in the first SeraMyu musical) to save the universe from eternal darkness. All I know about Superman is he has a red-and-blue cape and he's a guy. Isn't his girlfriend Robin or is that Batman? Is Robin even good?? Or is she evil?

Heh, I don't think Tuxedo Mask or Lois Lane would like that!
