Blowing winds are cold and brisk, mid-winter freeze arrives
I shiver as the frosty breeze disrobes the few remaining scarlet leaves
Skittering, they cartwheel 'cross the glinting railroad tracks, crackling spies

Pale rays of pie-sliced sunlight, no warmth to pierce the afternoon
Stark nakedness of darkened tree limbs, undressed bare decor
I pick the rusty doorlock, intrude as squawking hinges croon

I wander through lackluster emptiness, in this soon to be demolished station
Dusty floor is sun-streaked mustard yellow, plaster walls cast an eerie glow
Brown cardboard box, damp items lost and found, lead to lofty expectations

The ink-stained notes are written down on ragged, tattered pages
Depth of scope in black and white, musician's burning passion
Hidden 'neath the lining of a dingy pillowcase, insignia embroidered JAZE

'Let my nourishing love rain down and fill the inner reaches of your heart and soul
The drops will ease the heavy burdens of your burnt-sienna woes
Let my chanteuse love shine forth in passion's voice, a solar-flare of want's desire
A treasure trove in warm caresses, a touching spark to whet your fire

Let my mickle love be your poet's muse, banish darkness in your slumbering hours
Your focused dreams belong to me, vast oceans of roses, scented with power
Let my sonar love be your waking thought, dolphin laughter at high noon
Tides which ebb and flow, the waxing and the waning of the hunter's moon'

The mournful whistle sounds at 5 o'clock, I've not much time to spare
Grab my meager sack and wait a while, so I won't be noticed by the engineer
Slide the door, thankful that I'm all alone with sheltering bales of hay, safe lair

Midnight comes with banshee wailing, caustic apparition dressed in white
Heavenly devil tunes the 12 strings on my second-hand guitar
Strumming chords, releasing long-forgotten memories, I'm cowering in fright

There's just one destination on this outbound train for limbo, dead certainty
No up or down, no left or right, no good or bad, just tight concentric circles
JAZE..jittering jones, abnormal aberrations, zodiac zanana, enslaved eternity

Blowing winds are cold and brisk, mid-winter freeze arrives
I shiver as the frosty breeze disrobes the few remaining scarlet leaves
Skittering, they cartwheel 'cross the glinting railroad tracks, crackling spies
