Fallen
by Lyle Berry (Age: 61)
copyright 07-12-2001

Age Rating: 18 to 127

I have fallen
Fallen like an autumn leaf
Slain by Winter’s first silver dagger

I have fallen
Fallen like a bird died in flight
Wings folded
Plummeted to the Earth

I have fallen
Fallen like rock-a-bye baby
From the tree top
The Wind no more will blow
The Cradle no more will rock

I have fallen
Fallen like Humpty-Dumpty
From the Wall
And all the psychotherapy crazy glue in the World
Won’t put me back to together again

I have fallen
Fallen from belief in Dreams,
In Fairytales, in Hopes, in Fantasies
Fallen from Faith, from Love,
From all of the Illusions of Life

I have fallen
Fallen like a rock into the Abyss
Where no light penetrates
Where no light ever existed

I have fallen
Fallen to the Depths of Despair

And...
it’s...
so peaceful...
here...

Man this is awesome, I know exactly what you mean about the peace...when you are that close to the edge, it is comforting to fall into the pit of darkness that we create to protect ourself. It is numbing and allows you to start the climb back to reality.

Excellent! But I would not like this place that you have fallen too.

Lyle, I've been in the place called Despair, but didn't find any peace..a dark haunting write.

Thanks for your nice responses! Sometimes the bottom looks better when you have to look up to see it. LOL!

Slain by Winter’s first silver dagger ... Wow. I love that image. :) This is a wonderfully down poem with a nice twist at the end. *smile*
