The First and Last Prayer
by Barry Clopton Lanier (Age: 53)
copyright 01-05-2003

Age Rating: 13 to 127

As my time is consumption
Let there be no presumption
The waves of the oceans
Shall endlessly break one after another
Grant me that each of mine
Might break into an endless vision
While your Providence makes provision
May my soul delve swiftly and completely
Into the vast space of the subtle
Yet rest in the face of unspeakable truths
Let them ground me and serve as my roots
Let me sail into a vast sea of hopes and dreams
Allowing breaths of passion to drive me
And know what they really mean
Grant me full consciousness of Thy Power
And lead me up to that one final hill
Where I may sense Your true love
And not be subdued
To know Your true Will.

Amen

this is a spectacular poem, one that I identify with. maybe for your first two lines though, use:
"As my time is consumed
Let no one presume"

After all, time can't be consumption. it doesn't make sense. but superb poem.
