Sestina for My Beloved

  Sestina for My Beloved
Picture Credits:

Across the miles that separate,
the hurtful space that keeps our love apart,
I sense the throbbings of your heart.
I see the sadness in your longing eyes,
reflected in blue mountain skies
and I know once again, this endless pain.

But there is pleasure too, beyond this pain,
tho’ hard to keep them separate.
My tears sometimes fall like rain from the skies
reveries stirred since we are apart
envisioning the passion in those eyes
dwelling here inside my of heart.

I ache to listen to your heart
and lie my head on your breast free of pain,
watch the sparkling in those dear eyes.
Praying to God we’d never separate
and ne’r endure harsh miles apart,
forever we would share blue mountain skies.

In dreams I soar over blue mountain skies
nostalgic longings flood my heart.
My journey ending no longer apart,
absolution from all our pain.
Never again would we be separate -
happy end mirrored in your loving eyes.

Nothing could thrill me like those fiery eyes;
blues and greens from high mountain skies;
iridescence that cannot separate;
burning like incense in my heart;
balm to every hint of ancient pain;
calming my soul now that we’re not apart.

We’d laugh recalling when we were apart,
afraid to ever close our eyes.
Unwilling to ever face that dark pain,
focusing on blue mountain skies,
listening to the beating of one heart.
Two made into one cannot separate.

Finally heart to heart and eyes to eyes,
pain erased by our true blue mountain skies,
apart no more – we’d never separate.

By hurtful space, I mean to express the pain of physical separation; the inability to touch, kiss, hold and caress a loved one; miles and distance prevent this and of course the longer the time apart intensifies the agony. Thanks for the read. Warm Regards,
Lyle

the hurtful space that keeps our love apart... I've never seen space as hurtful, maybe time but never space. It's refreshing to see a new view point. I've written about the same topic, I should find it and post it. Have a great day.
