Spring is giving birth, in the aftermath of Winter’s mock death.
She frolics in slow motion – naked and innocent, tho’ pensive.
Ecstatic in transition, her waters break and Summer’s born.
Summer, growing child, races untouched as we seek to hold her.
Illusive that wee One, only smiling for fleeting seconds.
Then she bares her fangs, as though we were always her enemy.
Fall, envious of her sister’s beauty, is innovative in her regalia.
Resemblances striking – yet we sense she is of different ilk.
Threatened by ice daggers at her throat, she bids hasty retreat.
Winter, Queen of Control, sweeps in to establish her cruel realm.
Jealous of her kin, she viciously eradicates their traces.
Her brutal reign, tho’ brief, will seem to last for a lifetime.
