"XMAS DECS" the old box said
Under years of grime.
The cardboard sides were waterstained
And marked by age and time.
Peeling back the aged flaps,
A rainbow's found inside.
A beam of sunlight hit the box;
How can such beauty hide?
On top, there was an old glass ball;
Its coat was made of snow.
A scrap of tinsel clung to it
From, oh, so long ago.
And then there was a garland of
Little silver bells,
And a box from which, when op'ed,
A Christmas carol swells.
At the bottom, there she was.
Her wings and arms were spread.
The angel smiled up from the box
And it seemed she said:
"Peace on earth, goodwill to men;
The infant Christ is born.
All of Heaven's angels sang
To welcome that glad morn."
